Griggstown Farm Market is moving towards becoming self sustaining by installing solar energy. After an extensive search we have decided to use the services of American Renewable Energy, Inc. (ARE). We found their staff knowledgeable and committed to promoting a sustainable and energy efficient world including residential installation of solar technology. We would like to share the benefits of this technology and answer any questions you may have, so we asked the ARE team to join us Thursday June 30th from 11:00 am – 3:00 pm at the farm market. Please feel free to participate.

Make Thursday the day to feed your body with a nourishing and delicious lunch and your mind with information on how you can make the world a more sustainable place while saving money.

Mention the newsletter and receive $1.50 off a package of Chicken Sausage.  Expires July 3rd.

Griggstown Farm Market will be closed on July 4th

Baby Red Bourbon Turkeys

Have you stopped by the farm lately?  We have beautiful hanging baskets outside, as well as new products throughout the store.  With the warm weather finally here, we are excited about the new season.  The greenhouses are filled with budding plants, and we have already started putting plants in the ground.  For a limited time we have Pheasant Eggs.  When you stop by the store, ask to see one of the baby Pheasants that are going to be hatching any day! This week we also have baby Red Bourbon Turkeys.  They will be here growing from now until Thanksgiving!

Food of the Week:  Pheasant Eggs

Pheasant Eggs are now available at the Griggstown Farm Market.  These eggs are slightly smaller than a chicken egg, and larger than a quail egg.  They can be used as a substitute to most egg recipes, by using approximately double the amount.  Change a simply recipe to something extraordinary with Pheasant Eggs!

Pheasant Eggs Salad

Ingredients:

12 Pheasant Eggs

¼-½ cup mayonnaise

1 tablespoon Dijon Mustard

6 Chives, finely chopped

1 Shallot, very small dice

Salt and pepper to taste

Directions:

Start the eggs in cold water and bring up to a boil on high heat.  Let eggs boil in water for 2 minutes.  Take eggs off heat and let them sit in the hot water for 5 minutes.  Cool with cold running water.  Peel eggs and chop into about ¼” pieces.  Mix all the ingredients together and season to taste.  Enjoy!
